Juvederm Fillers

One of the most popular means of non-surgical facial rejuvenation is face contouring. It is based on special gel injections that help to smooth wrinkles, tighten the oval of the face, change the contour of cheekbones, lips, eyebrows, or cheeks due to their volume.

Modern fillers contain hyaluronic acid, a substance that can retain water in the cells. Under the influence of external factors like the sun, temperature changes, and the environment, water leaves the skin, leading to aging. Cosmetologists began using products based on hyaluronic acid to restore skin tone and make it elastic in the 1970s, meaning such fillers can be called time-tested.

Juvederm fillers are one of the most reliable products used in modern cosmetology today. They are produced by the American company Allergan and have an impeccable reputation. Juvederm fillers include non-animal-based low-molecular hyaluronic acid, produced by bacterial fermentation of a natural strain of Streptococcus equi, which is not dangerous for humans. The filler also includes lidocaine, a local anesthetic.

Juvederm products have been repeatedly tested and approved by the FDA, the U.S. medical organization that oversees quality control of medical products.

What problems can be solved with Juvederm fillers?

Juvederm fillers can be used to address age-related facial changes, including:

loss of definition to the facial oval;

insufficient cheek or lip volume;

expression wrinkles;

deep nasolabial folds;

facial asymmetry.

Indications

Indications for Juvederm fillers are the same as for facial contouring:

expression wrinkles;

deep folds on the forehead, between the eyebrows and nasolabial fold;

irregularly shaped chin or cheekbones;

asymmetric facial contours;

asymmetric lip contours or a lack of volume;

saggy facial skin;

post-acne marks.

How do Juvederm fillers work?

Hyaluronic acid, which is part of Juvederm products, helps to retain water at the site of the injection. When injecting the gel under the skin, it forms a kind of framework with the dermis, smoothing wrinkles. Hyaluronic acid molecules intensively moisturize the skin, contributing to rejuvenation. Juvederm fillers do not move through the tissues and remain exactly where they were injected for up to 1.5 years due to their high plasticity and cohesiveness (viscosity). There are several Juvederm filler gels. They differ in density and viscosity. All of them are part of two product lines.
Juvederm Ultra gel has the lowest cohesiveness and is injected into the upper layers of the skin. It can be used to correct small wrinkles around the mouth, forehead, and outer corners of the eyes.
Juvederm Ultra 3 gel is denser and is injected into the upper and middle layers of the skin. It is designed to correct nasolabial folds, medium-depth wrinkles, and give volume to the cheeks and cheekbones.
Juvederm Ultra 4 gel is the densest in the Ultra line. It is injected into the deep layers of the skin and successfully smooths deep wrinkles and folds. It is also used for modeling the lower third of the face (chin, jaw corners) and lip augmentation.
Juvederm Ultra Smile gel has a medium cohesiveness. It is mainly used to correct the shape and volume of the lips.
Juvederm Volite gel is the “lightest” filler designed to improve the quality of facial skin. It is used for biorevitalization procedures, restores water balance and tone, gives the skin added radiance. It is a biorevitalizer.
Juvederm Volbella gel is a filler with a small concentration of hyaluronic acid. It is used to correct the initial signs of aging, including fine expression lines around the eyes and lips, as well as nasolacrimal trough.
Juvederm Volift gel helps correct moderately deep wrinkles and nasolabial folds. It can be used as a lip filler.
Juvederm Voluma gel is used to correct the shape and volume of the jaw corners, chin, cheekbones, or cheeks.
Juvederm Volux gel is used to create a chin, cheekbones, and corners of the lower jaw (Jolie’s corners). The effect lasts for 1 to 2 years.

Procedure stages

The procedure can last anywhere from 30 to 50 minutes depending on the amount of correction necessary.

Skin cleansing.

Injections with Juvederm fillers do not require additional anesthesia because they contain lidocaine. You just need to thoroughly clean the skin before the procedure.

Injections with fillers

The doctor does the injections in those areas selected for correction according to the scheme predetermined at the consultation.

Final skincare.

A soothing cream is applied to the patient's face at the end of the procedure.

Rehabilitation after facial contouring with Juvederm fillers

There may be slight swelling and redness at the injection sites after the introduction of fillers that will pass in a few hours. Rejuvenating procedures with Juvederm fillers do not require a special rehabilitation period, but cosmetologists recommend that patients not go to saunas, steam/overcool the face, or do a facial massage for two weeks after undergoing the procedure.

Juvederm filler results

a clear contour of the face appears;

cheek and lip volume increases;

wrinkles and folds on the face are reduced;

facial symmetry is restored.

Contraindications for the use of Juvederm fillers are:

allergies to hyaluronic acid or lidocaine;

pregnancy and lactation;

skin diseases;

tendency toward keloid scar formation;

infectious diseases;

silicone previously introduced into the face;

chemical peeling or laser resurfacing of the facial skin, carried out shortly before.
